Ageless Laser Hair Removal

SOUTH FLORIDA LASER HAIR REMOVAL: We have been performing laser hair removal Cooper City, Davie, Plantation, Pembroke Pines and Weston over the past 10 years and would like to share with you some of the questions/concerns my patients commonly ask me:

WHAT ARE THE MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN AN IPL PROCEDURE & A HAIR REMOVAL LASER?

Firstly, the FDA allows IPL devices to claim “Hair Reduction”, and the FDA allows a laser to claim “Hair Removal” for a reason.. Lasers designed for hair removal, (in our case a Candela GentleMAX and a Candela GentleLASE hair removal lasers) that deliver light at very specific laser wavelengths, which is specific for hair and your skin type. The energy that is used is much more effective and safer in destroying your hair follicles. An IPL device, (that is not a laser) delivers a range of wavelengths and because of this has a higher risk in damaging your skin at higher energy levels vs. focusing on the hair follicle alone that a laser does. The results are not even close as a true “laser” (Removal) is so much more effective at removing hair than an IPL (Reduction). Many people that have received treatments elsewhere ask why they have had 10+ treatments and still have active hair. The reason for this is either because an IPL devices is used or a skill deficiency in the medical practitioner operating the laser.

WHAT IT THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF LASER HAIR REMOVAL PROCEDURES?

Your hair follicle must be in the active growth state for any laser to be effective and your hair has three phases in the growth cycle. In addition, your hair is not in the same growth cycle phase at the same time. So even if you spend one session for 8 hours, you can never destroy all of the hair follicles in a few visits. The average number of laser hair removal treatments is 6 or 8. The time for each visit depends on the area(s) treated and on average it is a 10 to 20 minute treatment time.
